After a falling out with his father, Franklin Clarence Mars, Forrest Mars Sr. opened what was then Mars (Europe) headquarters—now known as Mars (UK) headquarters—in Slough, Berkshire in 1932 on the brand-new Slough Trading Estate. He created the first Mars bar in this factory, which was modeled after the American Milky Way.
