Formerly known as the Al Ain Institution of Science and Technology, Al Ain University is a private institution with two campuses: one in Abu Dhabi and the other in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, the first president of the United Arab Emirates, founded it in 2004.
Al Ain University (AAU), founded in 2004, welcomed its inaugural class of students in 2005. AAU, which is known for its innovative efforts, opened a second campus in Abu Dhabi in 2008 to accommodate its expanding degree offerings in business and law. The university started with three colleges: engineering, business, education, humanities, and social sciences. Over time, it has added more colleges and expanded its program offerings, and now it offers 22 undergraduate programs spread across six colleges: business, pharmacy, education, humanities, social sciences, and engineering.
