The largest rural county in England is served by a variety of local government services provided by North Yorkshire Council. In addition to hundreds of other services, we are in charge of providing education, social services, health, trading standards, libraries, roadways, and household trash recycling facilities for a population of about 600,000. Seventy-two elected members represent our inhabitants, and the Conservatives run the council.
Over the next five years, we will be modernizing and evolving how we interact with the public and collaborate with communities more broadly. Although there will be obstacles to overcome, there will also be chances to improve efficiency and do a variety of tasks more effectively and intelligently than in the past.
