Study abroad programs for college-age American students are managed by the non-profit Institute for the International Education of Students, also known as IES Abroad.
The Institute of European Studies, which was established in 1950, has undergone a name change to better reflect its expanded offerings in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Currently, the organization offers more than 125 programs in 33 locations and 19 countries. Since IES Abroad’s foundation, more over 150,000 students have participated in study abroad programs, with over 10,000 students doing so annually.
