“Deliver readiness and lethality to the Warfighter Always and support our nation through quality, proactive global logistics” is the stated purpose of the Department of Labor and Archives. To carry out this mission, DLA employs roughly 25,000 people, who are split up into several supply chains. These supply chains contract for goods and services ranging from bulk petroleum and other energy products to subsistence (food and water), clothing and textiles, construction material and equipment, personal demand items, medical supplies, and repair parts for land, sea, and air systems.
The Defense Logistics Agency, which serves as the country’s combat logistics support agency, oversees the whole worldwide defense supply chain, from raw materials to end user disposition, on behalf of the five armed services, eleven combatant commands, and other partner and allied federal, state, and local agencies.
